Sharing…

You can and should feel free to share my posts on social media.

You can and should feel free to re-blog my posts.

My only stipulation is that you should include a link back to the original content.

Sharing actually helps my writing spread around and it’s about the only way I’m going to get beyond my current follower count. I know some writers are against sharing things to social media–I am not. Again, presuming there is some way to get from the shared post back to my original post.

Thank you.

Wandering Thoughts 2/21/2020

So I’ve been fighting with myself about something for a long time. Namely should I start a second blog for my fiction and let this blog just be a poetry blog. Honestly it’s a much harder question then you would think. There are so many things to consider, and it’s not like I’m a big blogger with thousands of followers who can start a second blog and have a good number of people follow me there. What will actually probably happen is I will be shrinking my install base on each blog. And popularity is a huge part of how your site shows up on search results.

But having a more clear purpose for my blog would be nice instead of having the “whatever I want” kind of blog I have right now. While this is mostly a creative writing blog even then there are some things that I post here that don’t fall under that already broad category. And I’m thinking of adding even more kinds of posts that might not so easily fall under that category.

But the thing I keep coming back to is the cost. Free blogs are nice and all but to have a lot of control over a wordpress sight you need a subscription plan. Which is per site not per user, meaning the perks I have for paying doesn’t cross over to any other blogs I might make. That’s a real hit for someone who isn’t making any money on this endeavor. I could always just run a second free site, but then I feel like I wouldn’t come up as much in web-searches.

Maybe I’m thinking to much about this. But for now I think I’m going to stick with the one blog. Life is far to short to be losing sleep over something this trivial, and one website is clearly easier to run then two.

Oh boy this is like the third time I’ve felt the need to justify having a blog called Wandering Poems where I also post things that are not poems–even though nobody asked. I need to get more sleep.

Until next time everyone.

Blog Journal, Twas the Blog Before Christmas

Hello everyone, the end of the year has started to turn into a haze and it’s honestly been more then a little overwhelming. I’ve really fallen behind on getting these blog journals done and that’s put a lot of pressure on me which makes me not want to work on the blog journals. Oh the joys of life.

Anyways, I did manage to still get a lot done this year. All the writing experiments and the poems. And even starting to write blog journals as well. A lot of projects fell by the wayside as I lost motivation to work on them. But even from those I’ve learned a lot about how to best work on projects and stay motivated to accomplish them.

As some of you may have seen I’ve started working on a new project here. I intend to work on this more next year and I hope you will take the time to read them as they come out.

I also started another book, a story I’m calling Lost Sun. My last book didn’t get published so it’s really just sitting on a shelf somewhere–but that’s okay–I’ve been really excited working on Lost Sun. As of yet I have not released any sort of excerpts from my book here on this blog, and I’m not sure I will. But I do intend to keep sharing my progress with you as I keep working on it. Currently I’m working on chapter 8 and considering I just started working on this book in late fall that’s quite a bit of progress.

I have written so many poems this year…honestly I’m surprised at myself. Over 130 poems were posted on my blog this year. That’s amazing that I could write that many.

I also have 180 blog followers, 1 email follower, and 60 social media followers for a total of 241 followers. In the grand scheme of things that’s nothing, I know that. But I’m so proud that I could have gotten even that many. And I am thankful to all of you for reading this one crazy persons writing on the internet.

I’m going to take things a little easier these last few days of 2019, the last few day’s of the decade. But I do intend to have a reflection of some kind up before the year ends, so look forward to that.

Let us all meet again in the new decade.

Blog Journal 10/25/19

Hello everyone, I’ve been struggling getting these blog journals out on time. And with life in general but we won’t worry about that just yet. I can’t seem to get these done on time for whatever reason. And so I think I am going to rearrange the schedule yet again.

New Scheduale

This is what my new blog schedule is going to be: I will be posting Blog journals on Friday’s from now on. Re-blog Friday is going to become re-blog Monday. Micro stories and short stories will come out on Tuesdays and Thursdays instead of a poem, meaning you might get a poem, a micro story, or a short story on those days. In addition I am going to be writing Blog Journals every other week instead of every week. I might post other things on Friday if I catch the bug, and I could always use the big Wednesday sized hole in the schedule for something as well, who knows. All of these changes are in connection to something that I’ve realized lately, read on to learn more.

My Sleep Schedule is Terrible

I went thought the whole day yesterday feeling like crap because I usually only get 6 hours of sleep at night. This is good for my writing–but really bad for my health. And I need to lower my cholesterol as well and I have been told that getting more sleep is a good place to start.

This means I’m going to have to work hard on adjusting how I work on projects and how much time I spend doing things like playing video games and reading. There is only so much time in the day, and I need to start working on getting my 8 hours.

Current Projects and Changes

I am currently in the process of reviewing all my writing projects that I’ve been working on in light of my new revaluations. I don’t think I need to make any changes to anything yet–but it’s hard to say for sure. I’ve been making good progress on my book and I want to keep working on that, but there really isn’t a time-limit on when that needs to get done so I think I can slow that down in favor of focusing on some of my other projects.

I’ve been designing my own Table Top RPG as frequent visitors may know. And I have some people lined up to help me play-test. Getting that done is gong to have to be a priority for me right now since I will need to start testing that right away and the only way I can is to have my D&D group help me when the current game I’m running ends.

This also means that I’m going to have to slow down on some of the longer short stories I’ve been working on if I want get some of my longer projects done. This might also help to explaining why I will be doing Blog Journals every other week now.

A few Other Things

As the holidays approach I need to have realistic expectation about what I will get done during that time. The new Pokemon games are also coming out of the 15th of November and so there might be a slow down in content during that time. I don’t know for sure how this will effect the upload schedule, if I could predict these things I would but sometimes I write poems ahead of time and schedule them far enough in advance where it isn’t even a big worry. And then other times I write the poem or story that day and post it. So just be warned, I don’t know what’s going to happen with that.

For Fun

I started playing “Digimon Story CyperSleuth” It’s been a nostalgia trip and I think I will try to play that game up until the new Pokemon games come out. It will give me something to do and focus on until then. I have not gotten any more reading done. But I think that will go better once I get my sleep schedule in order.

That’s everything I have for now….

Until we meet again.

Blog Journal 9/18/19

Hello everyone, another week another blog journal. As far as life goes I’ve been working hard. Work has taken up most of my time again this week so I have had less time for writing. But I think that’s about to end soon, fingers crossed.

Poems and Things

It’s a normal week for poems. Tuesday and Thursday, this schedule is working out rather well for me so I think we’ll keep going with it. Next weeks blog journal won’t include information about the schedule since its normal now. I will only include this information if something different is happening that week. In addition I will try to keep blog journals going up on Wednesday, but if I can’t for whatever reason they will be going up on Friday instead.

Short Stories and Book progress

I’ve been brain storming ideas for short stories and working on that project but I have not had time to sit down and write anything out. So nothing like that is being posted this week–unless a miracle happens.

In addition I have made very little progress on writing my book. I’m still writing chapter 2 and that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. I’m going to have to take some writing days I think very soon if I have any hope of catching up on where I want to be. But right now that requires taking a day off as my weekends are filled with things. I do have a lot of free time on Friday’s after work though so maybe I’ll take a half writing day.

What am I reading and playing

I’m planning on taking more time for reading books next week and I even have a few picked out that I think might be interesting. My video game playing has been really limited and I’ve set a goal for myself. I want to have competed another play through of Pokemon Ultra Sun before Sword and Shield come out in November. I need to catch all the Pokemon from gen 7 to help my wife complete her Pokedex, because she says I have to….

That’s everything for this week everyone, I hope to see you all next week.
