Blog Journal 10/11/19

Hello everyone, as you may have noticed it’s Friday and I am writing my blog journal today instead of on Wednesday. Honestly I got distracted working on one of my projects the table top rpg I’m designing and as such forgot that I needed to write a blog journal until latter. Not a big deal over all but I have no idea how many of you actually look forward to reading these so I tend not to stress out about it to much.

As you might have guessed I’ve mostly recovered from being sick though there are a few lingering symptoms that I’m working through. Once I’m back up to 100% I should really remember to get my flu shot. Maybe if I write it down here I won’t forget.

Poems, Micro Stories, and blogs

As some of you might have noticed I have started writing micro stories (or maybe just short, short stories, I’m a little unsure of the definitions) you can check out my first one here. All in all I liked how it turned out and I want to write more of these, but I’m not really sure show to optimize my schedule and creative time with this new addition to my repertoire. I could write micro stories and then write one less poem that week. Or I could write two poems and a micro story–but honestly I’m not sure how to is going to feel on my end considering the whole point of only doing two poems a week is to keep myself from burning out. I’ll let you guys know what I’m going to do about that next week. But for now enjoy the new posts you’ll be getting.

Other Projects

As I said earlier I got distracted working on my Table Top RPG system that I’ve been designing. And so that’s coming along nicely. But due to that not a lot of progress has been made on the book I’ve been working on writing. Honestly I’m not really sure which of these two major projects I should be prioritizing. So it seems like each week I end up working more on when then the other–then I wonder if I should have been working on the other project instead. Maybe one day I will understand how to manage time properly–but it is not this day.

What have I been reading and playing

I’ve finally gotten around to doing some reading, and I’ve been working my way though the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin it’s good so far but I’ll have to wait until I’ve made my way all the way though to know for sure.

I’ve been playing a lot of games since I was so sick over the past few weeks. I’ve been working my way though another play-though of Pokemon Sun, I’ve been trying to find time to play Fire Emblem Three Houses, and I even took a crack at this new RPG called Indivisible (no relation to the political movement group).

I think that’s going to have to be all from me for now. But I do intend on blogging for re-blog Friday as I always do. Have a good weekend and I’ll talk to you next week.

Blog Journal 9/5/19

It has been some time everyone. The last time I wrote one of these journals 2dcon was coming up and I was afraid that I might not be able to write as much during that time. OH boy did I underestimate that bugbear. I think I only had one poem put up on this blog that week. And I really was only expecting to miss one.

To give everyone an idea of whats been happening, work got crazy, really crazy. The upshot is I did get a promotion at work, but the adjustment period has been rough. I can’t really go into details but for awhile the uncertainty was stressful to say the least. But the good news is we’re getting things worked out now and everything is settling down.

Less Poems Per week, for now

I’ve going to be publishing poems two days a week instead of four days a week. The days will usually be Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope to start writing more poems soon, but stress, believe it or not, is not conducive to being creative. I’m also running low on my bank of unpublished poems and I would like more time to build those up again just in case. If things go well I might go back to the four a week schedule, or even go to a three day a week schedule to split the difference.

End of Hidden Sanctuary, Start of something new.

I no longer have the will to keep working on Hidden Sanctuary. And those stories get almost no views, so I don’t feel very guilty about it. Since that was part of an ongoing story and since I might still use some of those ideas latter for different writing projects I will delete those stories at the end of the week.

I do have something else I’m going to be working on I’m it’s place–well two things actually. I’ve finally decided to work on writing a book again. After finishing my first book and failing to get it published I wasn’t feeling very motivated. But now I feel a little more willing to try to write something else. But of course I will not be posting anything related to my book on here since I might still hold onto the dream of getting it published.

All that being said I am going to be working on some short stories on here. The stories you will be seeing here will be individual short stories with a lose connection in that they all take place inside the same multiverse. Some may even star reoccurring characters.

What I’ve been playing and doing this week.

2dcon was fun and I played a while ton of old games. I finally got to try Battle Toads after years of hearing roamers about it. I also got to play some arcade games and pinball which I haven’t gotten a chance to do in years. It was really nice. I’ve also been playing the mobile game Pokemon Masters which is a total cash grab I admit but I’m having fun with it. Still have not had a whole lot of time for reading but I hope that changes soon. I’ve been listening to the Daily Podcast from the New York Times this week for a lot of my news and reading AP articles about the damage done by hurricane Dorien.

That’s all from me this week.

State of the Blog Journal 8/14/19

I’m starting to think maybe I should just start calling these Blog Journals instead of the long name State of the Blog Journal–like I’m trying to be technically correct or something. Blog Journal will probably work just as well form now on.

Computer Issues

Late last week I went to turn on my desktop computer and electricity shoot out of the back. It looks like the motherboard is fried, but luckily for all of you I keep all my writing stored on a cloud server so nothing really effects anything here. But I order another computer, this time I decided to get a laptop. I’m a pc gamer so a desktop would have been a little better, but as a writer I think a laptop is better, so I ended up going with a gaming laptop. It should be here next week at the latest. In the meantime I’m writing this from my work computer. I do have a laptop at home but that’s mostly for my partner to use.

Poems and Stuff

This week I published a poem that was inspired by a video game. If you want you can try and guess what poem it is and what game it was inspired by. You don’t win anything if you get it right–well other then my admiration–so take that for however much you want.
Otherwise poem writing almost every weekday is going well, though I’m not sure for how long I’ll be able to keep this pass up without burning out. But I’ll never know if I don’t try at least.

Hidden Sanctuary resuming for now

I will post a chapter/episode of hidden sanctuary on Friday of this week. Hopefully people are enjoying that. Again I’m not sure how long I can keep up the rate of trying to post one of those a week. But I will let you know how that transpires.

Behind on Everything

So unfortunately due to my computer issues and things happening at my full time job, I’ve gotten a little behind, I think I’ll be fine for this week, but next week you might see one less poem or something like that during the week. Not a big deal I think, but I figured I should let you know.

What I’m playing and reading

I’ve not had a lot of time this week to read, play video games, or even listen to any news on NPR like I normally do. I really hate the feeling of not having any free time to do other things so I aim to fix this next week.

Alright have a good rest of your week everyone, until next week.
